They are intended for people who have had training to use the cane for safe and independent travel. They can also be used for identification that the individual is blind or has low vision.

Please note

The manufacturer has recommended when you want to fully expand the cane for use, that you pull the cane out slowly. Otherwise, you risk damaging the cane if you pull it out too quickly.

Telescopic canes are ideal for experienced blind or low vision cane users who require a compact and light duty cane, for occasional use navigating short distances safely and independently.

An assessment and training are recommended for first time cane users with our Orientation and Mobility Specialists.
