In this sectionDescription
The ARx Vision Gen1.5 headset is a groundbreaking AI-enabled talking camera, designed to enhance the lives of people who are blind or have low vision. It can connect to either an Android or iOS smartphone (for the latter, through a special adaptor). Connecting to a dedicated app on your smartphone, the headset translates visual information into audio descriptions.
You can listen to the ARx AI assistant describe what the camera is seeing. For example, informing what is in front of you or reading a newspaper article or bank statement. Alternatively, you can ask it questions, such as “summarise this article for me” or “are there any breakfast options in this menu?”
This lightweight headset allows for hands-free operation and its portability means you can use it anywhere you go and has been designed to integrate seamlessly into everyday life.
It currently works with the following accessibility apps: ARx AI, NaviLens and Microsoft’s Seeing AI. The ARx AI and NaviLens apps can be downloaded directly from the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
Features
- Lightweight wearable headset with adjustable elastic band
- Sony 8MP autofocus camera with AI-enabled talking capabilities
- Bone-conduction speakers
- Five distinctly shaped tactile buttons recognisable by touch
- Microphone for voice commands and talking calls
- USB-C cable for connection to your smartphone (not included)
- Converts visual information into audio
Benefits
- The ARx AI assistant provides audio descriptions of what the camera is seeing and lets you ask it questions, giving you access to information that you need.
- Bone conduction speakers allow you to still hear environmental and ambient sounds, as they do not cover your ears.
- The USB-C cable allows for high-speed, low-latency data transfer between the headset and your smartphone, ensuring reliable and stable connectivity without lag.
- The headset does not have a battery and is powered by the smartphone’s battery, meaning you never need to worry about charging the headset.
- Hands-free operation enables accessibility apps like Microsoft’s Seeing AI and NaviLens to be used, as it’s a wearable device that does not need to be held.
- Distinctly shaped tactile buttons recognisable through touch.
- Discreet form factor that does not cover the face.
- A neoprene sleeve is provided for the camera module for a comfortable fit against your skin.
- Lightweight (only 95g) and portable, designed to be used on the go and integrate into all settings and environments.
- You can use the supplied elasticated headband to adjust the fit, so the device is secure on your head.
